Natural Polymers:A polymer is a very large chain of molecules bonded together. Alcohols and esters are a few examples of these. The links that make up this chain are called monomers. The prefix mono meaning one, and ploy meaning many. Some polymers are made by living things, such as sheep wool, cotton, and silk from silk worms. But there are also manufactured polymers, that are called synthetic polymers. Plastic or cloth are a few examples of these.
Synthetic Polymers: As shown above, some polymers are made from living things, but there are also man-made polymers that are called synthetic polymers. These polymers are manufactured, and some of them include clothing made out of polyester and nylon. Most plastics are also made from synthetic polymers.
